Hashi, short for Hashiwokakero (meaning 'build bridges'), is a puzzle of connection and counting. Scattered across a grid are islands, each with a number. Your task to connect all islands with bridges according to three rules.
First: each island must have exactly as many bridges connected to it as its number. Second: bridges run horizontally or vertically between islands — they cannot cross other bridges or islands. Third: no more than two bridges may connect any pair of islands.
The puzzle starts with simple deductions. An island with a number in a corner has limited directions. Two islands adjacent to each other with high numbers must have double bridges between them. A 4 in the center with neighbors on all four sides must have at least one bridge in each direction.
The joy of Hashi is watching the network emerge. Each bridge you place constrains its endpoints. The puzzle rewards both local counting and global planning — you need to keep the entire connected structure in mind.

How to play Hashi
- Connect islands with bridges. Draw horizontal or vertical bridges between islands. Bridges cannot cross each other or other islands.
- Match island numbers. Each island must have exactly as many bridges connected to it as its number indicates.
- No more than two bridges. At most two bridges may connect any single pair of islands.
- Use forced moves first. A 4 with four neighbors must have at least one bridge in each direction. A 3 with one neighbor must have two bridges.
- Earn Retro Coins. Complete puzzles to score points based on size and solving time. Faster solutions earn more Retro Coins.
