Star Battle is one of the most elegant logic puzzles to emerge in recent years. You are given a grid divided into irregular regions. Your task is to place exactly two stars in each row, each column, and each region, with one additional constraint: no two stars may touch, not even diagonally.<\/p>\n

The diagonal constraint is what makes Star Battle special. It means every star creates a 3×3 exclusion zone around itself (with the star at the center). This spatial element adds a layer of geometric reasoning on top of the counting logic.<\/p>\n

The solving techniques are beautiful in their simplicity. If a region spans only two cells in a row, those two cells must contain the stars for that region \u2014 which eliminates stars from the rest of those rows. If a region is completely contained within two columns, the stars in those columns must come from outside the region.<\/p>\n
