Save State

An emulator feature that lets you save the game at any exact moment and reload it later.

A save state is a snapshot of a game’s entire state at a precise moment, saved by an emulator (and some flash carts). You can reload it instantly, which is useful for difficult games or testing. Save states are separate from in-game saves, which only work at designated save points. Overusing save states can make games too easy, but they are a huge convenience.
